About Terra Environmental

Alternative Energy Solutions for a Better Tomorrow

Who We Are

Our mission is simple but profound: To drive the transition to sustainable energy solutions that benefit people and the planet.

At Terra Environmental, while others see waste, we see a groundbreaking opportunity to create a brighter future. Our company specializes in transforming waste into valuable resources, offering alternative energy solutions for industries ranging from manufacturing to auto body shops. As the first facility in Missouri capable of collecting materials that can be converted into alternative fuels, we are at the forefront of sustainable waste management. Our advanced shredding process feeds into cement kilns, producing a cleaner burning fuel than coal. With a commitment to environmental stewardship, we ensure that harmful waste materials are diverted from landfills, contributing to a greener future.

Our comprehensive services include liquid waste disposal, waste-to-energy conversion, and efficient transportation within a 400-mile radius. We pride ourselves on our stringent acceptance processes, guaranteeing safe and ethical handling of all materials. By conducting detailed waste audits, we help our clients, whether they are seasoned in NHSM practices or new to the concept, understand and optimize their waste management. At Terra Environmental, we believe in making sustainability accessible, supporting our clients every step of the way as they strive to reduce their environmental impact. Join us in our mission to create a cleaner, more sustainable world.

What is a Non-Hazardous Secondary Material?

Nonhazardous secondary materials (NHSM) are by-products from manufacturing and commercial activities that are not the primary products, such as coal combustion residues, spent foundry sand, and construction debris. These materials often hold energy or material value, making them suitable for reuse in industrial processes.
Diverting NHSM from landfills helps reduce waste volume, extend landfill life, and lower greenhouse gas emissions by repurposing them as alternative fuels or in new products. This approach supports a circular economy, decreases the need for new raw materials, and helps industries comply with environmental regulations while enhancing sustainability profiles and reducing disposal costs.

Liquid Waste

Nonhazardous liquid waste includes various types of liquid by-products from residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural activities. Some examples of liquid waste include:

  • Wastewater – Residual water from industrial processes or domestic use.
  • Used Cooking Oil – Leftover oils and fats from food preparation.
  • Detergent Solution – Waste from cleaning processes.
  • Stormwater Runoff – Water from rain or melting snow that washes over surfaces.
  • Milk and Dairy Waste – Liquid waste from dairy processing.
  • Beverage Waste – Waste from the production of sodas, beers, and other brewing waste.
  • Non-hazardous Chemical Solutions – Diluted chemicals like cleaning agents.
  • Coolant Fluids – Used in industrial machinery to regulate temperature.
  • Agricultural Runoff – Excess water from fields carrying soil, pesticides, and fertilizers.

Solid Waste

Solid waste includes a variety of discarded materials from households, industries, and other communities. A few examples of solid waste include:

  • Food Scraps – Organic waste from food preparation and consumption.
  • Paper Products – Wastepaper including newspapers, cardboard, and office paper.
  • Glass – Discarded glass bottles, jars, and other glass containers.
  • Plastics – Used plastic packaging, containers, and products.
  • Metals – Scrap metal from various consumer and industrial products.
  • Yard Trimmings – Leaves, grass clippings, and branches from landscaping.
  • Textiles – Old clothing, fabrics, and other textile products.
  • Appliances – Discarded household appliances like refrigerators and microwaves.
  • Batteries – Used batteries from various electronic devices
